Provides bereavement support to any adult who needs it in our area. Most of us, at some time in our lives, will be faced with the death of someone we love or care very deeply about. When someone you love dies it can feel as though a piece of you has died too. But you don’t have to go through it alone. We are here to support you through one of the most difficult experiences you will ever have to face through our telephone helpline, groups and one-to-one sessions.
There are a number of organisations supporting people who are suffering domestic abuse. DAFFS (Avon & Somerset Domestic Abuse FreeFone Service) will not leave a trace on your telephone bill and can put you in touch with services available in your area including refuges, legal advice and other support services. Avon & Somerset Constabulary have a list of other services.
Family Rights Group's national helpline can advise if you are a parent, friend or relative and social workers are involved in your child's life, or you need extra support from Children's Services. Gingerbread is a national organisation providing support for single parents. The Single Parent Helpline provides support on anything from dealing with a break-up, to going back to work or sorting out maintenance, benefit or tax credit issues. The helpline will talk through your options and will send you useful information. There are also factsheets on money and benefits, work and family issues.
Provide accessible information, advice and guidance to deaf people in their first language. Areas of expertise include benefits, money, housing, employment, debt and family/domestic. Also work with HMRC to make tax and tax credit information and advice more accessible.
Rights of Women is a charity that provides free confidential legal advice to women in the areas of family law, criminal law, immigration and asylum law. Their advice is provided by women solicitors and barristers.

Being a parent, whatever your situation, can be very difficult, especially when children are young. Many parents feel exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses of family life, particularly if they have little support from family and friends when they need it most. For some parents it’s a particular struggle because they are also having to cope with issues such as post-natal depression, their or their child’s illness or disability, isolation or multiple birth. Home-Start North Somerset provides one-to-one support, friendship and practical help to parents of young children.

Provides information, practical advice and emotional support in the aftermath of a stroke. We begin working with a stroke survivor, their carers and their family immediately following a stroke, and will continue to provide the support people need, for as long as they need it – within their own homes and back into the community.
